Halton’s 2026 overdose reporting
Halton Region reports 124 paramedic calls for suspected opioid overdose from January 1 to August 31, 2026, compared with 99 over the same months in 2025. Its separate mortality measure records 20 confirmed opioid-related deaths in Halton from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026; those death figures remain preliminary and may change. Read Halton’s reporting periods and data notes.
Calls and deaths cover different periods and cannot be added together. Calls are not a count of unique people. These regional measures do not describe Oakville alone, all substance use or an individual’s care needs.
Pickup and safe travel
Complimentary pickup is available with a paid program, subject to confirmation by our clinical team that the person can travel safely. Our driver cannot transport someone who is severely intoxicated or requires emergency medical care.
Please speak with our nursing team before pickup for individual guidance. For a medical emergency, call 911.
Transportation home is available at an additional cost and is not included in the program fee.
Local Substance Use And Overdose Patterns
In an August 7, 2026 alert, Halton Public Health reported detection of nitazene in the region’s unregulated drug supply, following a report of counterfeit opioids seized in North Halton. This is a recent substance-specific finding, rather than a percentage of all overdoses or an estimate of how many residents use a drug.
The alert does not establish which substance is most commonly used across Halton. Its original public-health guidance is available at the link. For local counselling and family-support enquiries, see the ADAPT information below.
Local support for adults and the people close to them
ADAPT’s adult program offers substance-use counselling and support for adults aged 25 and older. It also offers individual and group support for family members, friends and significant others affected by a loved one’s substance use. Its published clinical-intake number is 905-639-6537, extension 0.
When contacting ADAPT, say whether you are seeking help for yourself or support as a family member. Ask which program fits the enquiry, how intake works and where or how appointments take place. For a younger person, ask about the appropriate service rather than assuming the adult program applies. ADAPT is an independent community resource; contacting it does not book a Metamorphosis admission.
Compare the service, not just the name
When weighing local support and an inpatient stay away from Halton, keep a short record of what each provider has actually confirmed. A local counselling enquiry and a private inpatient admission are separate arrangements.
- Purpose: Are you asking for an assessment, ongoing counselling, family support or information about an inpatient stay?
- Access: Who can use the service, is a referral needed, and what is the next confirmed step?
- Practical details: Where does the appointment or stay take place, what does it cost, and who can answer follow-up questions?
- Family involvement: Can a family member receive general information or their own support, and what consent is needed to discuss someone else’s care?
A qualified health professional should help assess care needs. These questions organize the enquiry; they do not select a treatment setting.
Planning a Delhi stay from Halton
Metamorphosis has no treatment facility in Halton. The Delhi program provides 24-hour nursing and an on-call physician, with private and semi-private rooms subject to availability and clinical assessment. Confirm admission arrangements before organizing departure.
Give admissions the actual departure municipality and address—Oakville, Burlington, Milton or Halton Hills—plus the entrance you would use. Discuss pickup directly with the team under the conditions above. For family driving, confirm the Delhi arrival time and check Ontario 511 for current highway information. No fixed travel time is promised.
Ask for the program quote and the separate price of transportation home. Our detox cost questions guide helps keep those amounts distinct.
Give each family member a clear role
For example, one person could coordinate the confirmed travel details while another covers meals, pets or school pickups. A relative looking for their own counselling support can make a separate local enquiry. Keep these roles separate from decisions about treatment and access to personal information.
Agree who will update practical plans if the proposed admission or return date changes. Use the household handover checklist to record responsibilities, rather than relying on several people assuming someone else has taken care of them.
Frequently asked questions
Does this guide cover Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills too?
Yes. It covers Halton Region’s four municipalities, including Oakville. Local providers confirm their own eligibility and service arrangements. Metamorphosis treatment takes place only in Delhi.
Can I seek local support as a family member?
ADAPT lists support for family members, friends and significant others affected by a loved one’s substance use. Contact its intake team to ask about the current options. This is separate from an enquiry about a Metamorphosis stay.
Do the overdose-call figures mean 124 people need detox?
No. Calls are not a count of unique people, and this statistic cannot determine individual care needs or the number of people who need an inpatient stay.
Is the ride home to Halton part of the program price?
Transportation home is available at an additional cost and is not included in the program fee. Confirm the destination and price with admissions.
