York Region’s July 2026 public-health alert

York Region’s July 24, 2026 drug alert reported increased paramedic calls for possible drug poisonings during the week ending July 19, 2026, notably in Richmond Hill and Vaughan, alongside increased suspected opioid-poisoning calls.

This is a dated local alert, not a full-year count or evidence that every York municipality has the same pattern. The region’s opioid information page lists its alerts. For ongoing mental-health and addiction-service enquiries, YSSN’s access pathway below explains a practical starting point.

Pickup and safe travel

Complimentary pickup is available with a paid program, subject to confirmation by our clinical team that the person can travel safely. Our driver cannot transport someone who is severely intoxicated or requires emergency medical care.

Please speak with our nursing team before pickup for individual guidance. For a medical emergency, call 911.

Transportation home is available at an additional cost and is not included in the program fee.

Local Substance Use And Overdose Patterns

The July 2026 alert noted more calls related to heroin and stimulants, but stated that details of the substances were unavailable. Its references to medetomidine were anecdotal reports.

These observations do not confirm the contents of each drug, identify a most-used substance or establish a regional death percentage. Keep local service enquiries, a Metamorphosis assessment and any confirmed appointments as separate steps in your planning.

A regional starting point for community support

Your Support Services Network’s Streamlined Access helps people aged 16 and older in York Region and South Simcoe connect with mental-health, addiction and housing supports. Its access team assesses eligibility and explains available services. Call 1-844-660-6602 to ask about the process.

YSSN says it cannot provide exact waiting times because they depend on the program and availability. Ask what happens after an application, who will contact you and how to update your details. Eligibility and appointment arrangements are confirmed by the service itself.

This is an independent regional resource, not a Metamorphosis partner or a way to reserve a Delhi admission. Contact our admissions team separately for the inpatient program.

Keep referrals and appointments in one contact record

If you are speaking with both a local service and the Delhi admissions team, use a separate line for each. A submitted form, a referral and a booked appointment are different stages.

  • Service and purpose: Record the organization, contact person and what you asked for.
  • Current stage: Note whether you are awaiting a response, completing intake or holding a confirmed appointment.
  • Next action: Write down who will call whom and any agreed date.
  • Where it happens: Confirm the address or remote appointment instructions with the provider.
  • Information sharing: Ask what records are needed, who should send them and what consent is required.

For example, “application submitted; awaiting eligibility review” should stay separate from “appointment confirmed.” Our follow-up appointment organizer expands this into a reusable planning approach.

Plan the actual departure and return addresses

A York Region address may be in an urban building, a village or the countryside. Give admissions the full street address and municipality. For a rural King Township property, discuss a gate, long driveway or alternative entrance; for an apartment, identify the entrance and proposed meeting point. The team must confirm the arrangements.

For the first part of a journey in King Township, the Township’s maps page provides construction and road-restriction information. Check Ontario 511 for highways. Review conditions close to departure rather than relying on a fixed travel-time estimate.

Tell admissions if your return destination differs from the pickup address and request the separate transport price. Confirm local appointments against the agreed return plan, rather than assuming they can be attended on an estimated discharge day.

Questions for the Delhi admissions team

Metamorphosis has no York Region treatment location. The Delhi program provides 24-hour nursing and an on-call physician; private and semi-private rooms are subject to availability and clinical assessment.

Ask about the assessment process, room options, current program price and the point at which arrival can be confirmed. If you already have a local provider, ask how to discuss continuity and information-sharing arrangements. An enquiry does not reserve a room or create a referral relationship.

Use the program cost questions guide for the written quote and the household checklist for responsibilities while away.

Frequently asked questions

Does this page replace the King Township guide?

Yes. King City, Nobleton, Schomberg and rural King Township are included in this broader York Region guide. It also serves residents elsewhere in the region without creating separate versions of the same page.

Does the alert show which drug is most commonly used in York Region?

No. The July 2026 alert describes reported poisoning calls over a particular week and says substance details were unavailable. It is not a regional survey of drug use or a ranking of substances.

Does Streamlined Access guarantee an immediate appointment?

No. YSSN assesses eligibility, and waiting times depend on the service and availability. Ask its access team about the next step for your circumstances.

Does my local referral confirm a Metamorphosis stay?

No. Local support applications and Metamorphosis admissions are separate. Confirm the Delhi assessment, availability and arrival arrangements directly with admissions.
